Waiting on Wednesday: Inland

Hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

 My Pick:

By Kat Rosenfield
Publication Date: June 12

After nine years spent suffocating in the arid expanses of the Midwest, far from the sea where her mother drowned, Callie Morgan and her estranged father are returning to the coast. And miraculously, Callie can finally breathe easily. No more sudden, clawing attacks and week-long hospital stays. No more wary, pitying glances from classmates and teachers. She can be more than a sickly freak, coughing her way between nondescript inland towns every year.
But something waits for Callie in the water. Just as her life begins to feel like her own, with an almost-family and a first love and a circle of loud-mouthed friends, her body starts to rebel in new ways. She finds herself fighting the intoxicating pull of the black waters right outside her window. Her dreams turn wild and real, and she wakes up with salt water in her hair. Family secrets and whispering doubts flood her brain as she leads herself and those around her into danger, jeopardizing everything she once longed for. Is it madness, or is there a voice, beckoning her to come to the sea’s deepest heart; to come home?

I saw this cover and I had to see what this book was about. Turns out it sounds pretty freaking AWESOME! I can’t wait till June rolls around when I can dive in and splash around in this book;)

What book are you waiting for?

  1. Dun dun duuunnnnnn!!!!!! What’s in the water?? We’ll have to wait and see….This will be a great summer read. I live on the east coast of North Carolina and we’re always at the beach in the summer. I can only imagine reading this at the beach getting to spooked to even get in the water lol. Thanks a lot Danica, LOL! j/k Thanks for sharing! This is the first time I’ve heard of this book, so cheers to that. I wish the cover was different, they could of done something a lot neater, especially with water being the main focus. Just my opinion, what do you think??

    • You know, I bet they really could have done something with water on the cover! I also happen to be a complete sucker for water covers, especially the ones where it’s like a room under water or people underwater–I just LOVE them. I live up in WA on the west coast, and I don’t know if I’d be able to live away from the coast–anytime I head over the hill and into town I have a view of the water and I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF IT!
